Maureen Cavanagh

media consultant-VISUAL editor-creative director-photo educator

My name is Maureen Cavanagh. I am a long-time Visual Editor for both traditional and digital media, currently working as a visual editor at The New York Times. I have also worked at The Players’ Tribune media startup and Sports Illustrated magazine & website.

Through the years I’ve built a large network of top industry talent that I tap into to help media companies strategically build their visual teams. I also love to collaborate with individual photographers to help them best tell the stories that need to be told.

I’m passionate about photo research and archival projects, while at the same time staying updated on the latest exciting Open AI programs like GPT-4 Vision.

I am a two-time POY award winner for photo editing, have been a Producer at the Eddie Adams Workshop and I am honored to be on the Board of Directors of the DPPF, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing career development to young photographers.

I’ve put all of these things IN BOLD hoping to make them seem like a big deal.
