Maureen Cavanagh

photographer-PHOTO editor-creative director-media consultant-photo educator who loves sports.

My name is Maureen Cavanagh. I am a long-time Visual Editor for both traditional and digital media, currently working as a photo editor at The New York Times. I have also worked at The Players’ Tribune and Sports Illustrated Magazine.

Through the years I have covered lots of major sporting events all around the world. I’ve built a large network of top industry talent that I tap into to help media companies strategically build their visual teams. I also love to collaborate with individual photographers to help them best tell the stories that need to be told.

I am a two-time POY award winner for photo editing, have been a Producer at the Eddie Adams Workshop and I am honored to be on the Board of Directors of the DPPF, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing career development to young sports photographers.

I’ve put all of these things IN BOLD hoping to make them seem like a big deal.
